About OSCAR Foundation
OSCAR Foundation is a football for development non-profit dedicated to empowering children and youth in low-income communities in India.
OSCAR uses football as a tool to deliver education and life skills sessions enabling children and youth to become role models in their community. Over the last 9 years, more than 12000+ children and youth in India have joined OSCAR’s Football, Education, and Young Leaders’ Programme. OSCAR Foundation is headquartered in Mumbai and has reached out to children in Mumbai, Delhi, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Jharkhand.
OSCAR Foundation believes the core values inherent in football are principles necessary for community development. Our Football Programme is at the heart of our intervention in low-income communities. Based on ‘No School, No Football’, OSCAR provides football and life skills sessions to children from low income backgrounds as long as they attend school regularly.
Through our coaches and a network of OSCAR Young Leaders, we reach out to 25 low income communities across 6 cities. Weekly football sessions help our children develop their football skills and enable our trainers to teach key life-skills including leadership, conflict resolution and teamwork whilst raising awareness on pertinent social issues including child marriage, health and hygiene practices and gender discrimination.
OSCAR-SSE is an Elite Level Football Project in partnership with Soccer Schools for Excellence (SSE). The OSCAR-SSE I-League team offers promising young footballers from low-income communities an opportunity to pursue football professionally. OSCAR is the only non-profit with its own I-League team with a 2-star rating from All India Football Federation (AIFF). As of 2019, OSCAR-SSE competes in U13, U15, and U18 categories.
